FF Url Tool

Do you have multiple internet shortcuts on your desktop and want to open the selected shortcuts  in Firefox tabs?
By default Firefox only opens the first in your selection, so you will end up clicking all the shortcuts one by one.
I thought many other people would have the same problem, but couldn’t find many topics about this issue on the internet.

To solve this problem I made a program called FF Url Tool.

What it does
  • This tool adds an option to the contextmenu of internet shortcuts (.url files) to “Open in tabs”.
  • When you click this option it opens Firefox and waits until the program has been running for 2 seconds. (Skipped if FF is already running)
  • After Firefox is running, the tool exits, and Windows will then open all selected shortcuts in Firefox tabs using DDE.
  • Installing will add the context item automatically. Uninstalling will remove it again.
  • You can also run the executable manually to start it in GUI mode to see the command line options.
  • Changes are made to the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut.

This program requires Firefox and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. It has only been tested on Windows XP, but may work on later versions too.
